Our side yard. The merry-go-round is in our yard. The deer was next door.  We see deer fairly frequently in the last few years.

Our temperature is very good at the moment.  -28C  We went out to a Hitmen Hockey game this afternoon.  It was good hockey. They won 3 to 1. They were playing the Swift Current Bronchos.

Hope to get some sewing done tomorrow as it will be even colder.  I am staying home.

 This is how the dolls are knit. It is all knit with the face section being stockingnette stitch. Next step is stuffing and sewing together.

This is a sample of dishcloths that I made as thank  you gift for guests at Chris and Sara's wedding. I believe that I made 60 something.

Had a sew day at home yesterday.  I am working on my Judy Neimeyer Daisy placemats. Will add a photo later on them.  I got the bias binding made and sew on to 2 placemats and then did the hand sewing of the binding last night.  So I have 2 of them finished.  4 more to go.  The binding is all pinned on and ready to sew.

Hi Cathy,  I tried to reply to your comment twice and it would  not take. Not sure why. So I will answer your question in a post.  You asked how our "stone soup" charity sew day worked.  It is our annual sew day for charity.  Usually in April.  Our local arena donation the hall and all interested quilters come out and sew on charity quilt from 9am till 4pm.  Members of our comfort quilts committee put together some kits of fabric with patterns as a suggestion for use. Anyone that shows up can pick a package to work on that day. Many times a top can be completed in a day. Each person gets to chose if the wish to take their quilt home to finish and return at a later date.  We call our day "stone soup" day based on an old story.  A poor man in this town had not food.  He started a big pot of soup to be shared with the community.  All his neighbours added food items to the soup and it cooked all day.  It turned into a wonderful meal for the town. The beginning ingredient started by the poor man was a stone as he had no food.
    We have several places that we donate quilt to every year. So that is basically the story of how our day works.  Members also bring items to share for our lunch. We usually have a couple of soups and chill and dessert.  It is a great day.
     Like you I think this is a great way to finally meet some of our members from block lotto. Your 2 comments on my blog are the first ones that I have had.  Do you know if there is a reason why the comment reply does not work for me?

 This is the front and back of a donation baby quilt that I made. All blocks and the minkie backing were from scraps given to me for other quilters.

 This is a small quilt I made after taking a sashiko class. I use it over the back of a chair. I had quilted around the butterflies on the backing material.

Donation quilts 2019

 Here are 3 tops that were completed last April at Stone Soup day. Member has the chose of taking home to finish or let members with a long arm quilt the tops for donation.

 This is a picture of me at my guild's "Stone Soup" charity sew day that we have once a year.  I was working on putting together blocks that were quilted using scraps.  I am doing quilt as you go.  I got 4 rows together that day.  I am still working on the finishing of this quilt.

These are knitted pieces to make dolls for. The one on the left end is finished.  I did a lot around this time but have not done any for awhile.  Need to get back at it and do some more.  I donate them through a friend to a church in Calgary.  Think that they get  sent to Africa.

Hi on the sunny and cold Friday.  The top photo shows 4 of the 8 denim circle placemats that I made earlier in 2019.   The hot pad in the centre of the table is a folded star block that I made quite a while ago. The bottom photo was at my guild's show and tell.  The first 14 blocks of 52 blocks in 52 weeks that was presented by Canadian Quilters Association.  I had a good time doing the blocks. I am a little behind but I broke my shoulder in Sept. so could not sew.  I am still trying to get caught up.  Thinking about how to put them together.  They are 6 1/2" unfinished.  I basically used the same 3 fabrics but part way through I had to change the dark to a different fabric.  It still worked well with the blocks though.
  Hope you are having a great day.  I didn't sew today but did get to my sewing room to get some sorting of stuff done.  I am continuing to work in my declutter mode.

 Daughter and I made silk roses for her wedding bouquet.  The basic part of the bouquet was mine from my wedding 30 years ago.  She cleaned it up, removed some of the flowers and added 5 big teal silk roses.  We were both very happy with it.

 The 2 blocks below are the ones that I made for Block Lotto.  I actually won a set of the made blocks.  The only ones that I won in about the 3 years or so that I took part in making blocks.  I didn't manage to make all the blocks but did a lot.

Unfortunately Sophie can't run the group anymore and it looks like the game has come to an end.  I have enjoyed my time making blocks for it.  Thank you Sophie for all the years that you ran this group. Thank you to Cathy and Nann for continuing to group for the final time that Sophie was not able to do so.  I was thinking that maybe a Facebook group would work but then we would need someone to run it.  I took over running a Fat Quarter lotto group for a while on a Canada site but it was a little more costly. I do like the way that the block lotto was run but now the expense.  A free forum  would be a possibly maybe if someone wanted to take it on.  Not sure when the actual site will close.
